If you’ve been catching recent news coverage, you’ve seen the flurry of media reports on underfunding of the GM pension plan.

The undetermined status of the pension plan is a concern for us. We have been pursuing accurate pension data and numbers for months. Unfortunately, the data we needed was not available in one neat package. We are working through a mountain of reporting material including GM's Annual Return/Report on the Employee Benefit Plan, GM's recent Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) filing and a report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office Troubled Asset Relief Program on Automaker Pension Funding.

Once we have completed our analysis of the reports, we will be meeting with the U.S. Government Accountability Office and representatives from GM to discuss the reports in greater detail.
