| Due to a higher than anticipated level of interest in the Voluntary Life Insurance option available from MetLife, the enrollment period has been extended to August 28, 2009. You must enroll by that date to take advantage of this offer. As I said last week, you may find better options in the public marketplace, but signing up for the MetLife offering can give you peace of mind as you evaluate other insurance opportunities. You’ve probably also heard from Bill Kadereit, President of the National Retiree Legislative Network (NRLN), sharing some successes on behalf of retirees in the current health care reform process. Their hard work in Washington, D.C. has resulted in some favorable language in the House health care bill. You’ll note that NRLN is also pressing for these retiree health care protections to be effective 12/31/2008. That would be very significant for all GM retirees. I encourage you to engage your House member in support of the key points shared in the NRLN email alert, including the retroactivity provision.
